Coordinating Wedding Ceremony

Officiating a wedding is part of the pastoral theology of the church. For the past years, I've been helping our church to coordinate a Christian type of wedding ceremony. Here is my sample script (in English and Tagalog).

ORDER OF WEDDING CEREMONY

PRELUDE (Special No./Wedding Songs)

PROCESSION (Bridal March as the Bride comes)

GIVING OF THE BRIDE

Officiant: Who presents this woman and this man to be married to each other?

Parents: We do.

OPENING PRAYER

MESSAGE OF THE OFFICIANT (All be seated except the couple)

CHARGE TO THE COUPLE

CHARGE TO THE PARENTS

CHARGE TO THE SPONSORS

EXCHANGE OF VOWS:

Officiant: Do you, [GROOM’S NAME], take [BRIDE’S NAME], as your wife; will you love her, care for her, and serve her from this on forward until death separates you?

Groom: I do!

Officiant: Do you, [BRIDE’S NAME], take [GROOM’S NAME], as your husband; will you love him, care and serve him from this one forward until death separate you?

Bride: I do!

EXCHANGE OF RINGS

Request the maid of honor get the flower; bestman get the smallest ring

Officiant: RING – It is round, symbolizes continuous, constant, ever flowing with Love

GOLD – It does not fade.

RING OATH

Groom: “[BRIDE’S NAME], I give you this ring as a symbol of our love, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. With this ring, I wed you.”

Bride: “[GROOM’S NAME], I give you this ring as a symbol of our love, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. With this ring, I wed you.”

THE COIN (One of the Groom’s men will get the coin give it to the Pastor)

Officiant: These Coins are the symbol of the union of your faith with each other when it comes to material things.

Groom: I promise to supply your needs and of our family. That I will do my best with all I can to give it wilfully with all my heart for the betterment

Bride: I promise to take care of our finances responsibly to ensure a smooth governance of our assets and expenses. I also promise to give to the Lord what is due Him.

THE BIBLE (One of the bride’s maids will get the Bible and give it to the Officiant)

Officiant: BIBLE – gives light, wisdom, guidance, comfort (Psalm 19)

(The Pastor will give the Bible to the Couple

Request the Couple to kneel down.)

VEIL AND CORD

Officiant: The Veil is the symbol of submission of the wife under the husband and its purest intention of the couple with each other. On the other hand, the cord symbolizes that both of you are now one and cannot be separated.

One of the secondary sponsors (CANDLES) will lit both the small candles. Then the couples will both lit the unity candle through the small candles.

ANG ARAS (Isa sa mga Groom’s men ang kukuha ng aras at ibibigay ito sa ministro)

Ministro: Ang mga perang ito ang simbolo ng pag-iisa ninyo ng inyong tiwala sa isa’t-isa patungkol sa mga material na bagay.

Lalake: Nangangako ako na pupunan ang iyong pangangailangan at ng ating pamilya. Na gagawin ko ang aking makakaya upang maibigay ito ng aking buong puso para sa ikabubuti ng ating pamilya.

Babae: Nangangako ako na iingatan at papangalagaan ang ating pinansyal upang maging maayos ang pangangasiwa ng ating mga pangangalilangan. Nangangako din ako na ibibigay sa Diyos ang nararapat na para sa Kanya.

BELO AT KORD

Ministro: Ang belo ang sumisimbolo ng pagpapasakop ng babae sa lalake at ang dalisay na layunin nila sa isa’t isa. Samantalang ang tali naman ang sumisimbolo na kayo ngayon ay iisa na at hindi na kaylanman pwedi paghiwalayin.
